Kostum Warranties 2025

Applicable from: January 1, 2025

In addition to the legal warranty against hidden defects, our products benefit, from delivery, from a commercial warranty depending on their nature and destination.

The products covered by this warranty and their duration are defined below.

Subject to its own provisions, the contractual warranty is subject to the conditions of the legal warranty defined in the general contract terms, which it complements. (notably for implementation conditions defined in article 5 of the general contract terms of MAISON CADIOU).

Manufacturing Warranty

Manufacturing of gates - fences - railings – pergolas - carports:

All our aluminum gates, fences, railings, pergolas, and carports are guaranteed against any manufacturing defect or abnormal deformation.

This warranty is granted subject to strict compliance with installation (including motorization), storage, use, and maintenance conditions.

The duration of the manufacturing warranty for aluminum products depends on the range and/or product subfamily.

Wood: warranty up to 30 years

The rails, coverings, and wooden parts of our gates, fences, railings, pergolas, and carports are guaranteed for varying durations depending on the wood species. This warranty exclusively covers:

• swelling or maximum shrinkage in one direction exceeds 2.5% during normal use,
• fungal decay or rot (for this warranty, fungal decay is limited to decay caused by all soft rot fungi and by the species Paria placenta, Coniophora puteana, Gloeophyllum trabeum, Corriolus versicolor, Serpula lacrymans; it does not include common surface molds, rust, or any other organism, bacteria, or fungus)

The warranty is granted if the swelling and fungal decay are such that the product can no longer fulfill its intended function, and subject to strict compliance with installation, storage, use, and maintenance conditions.

Aluminum Powder Coating Warranty

The powder coating warranty only covers profiles. (excluding accessory coating: see accessory warranties).

The warranty covers the following defects:

• Peeling,
• Flaking or blistering
• Corrosion, other than corrosion caused by bending or deformation due to shocks or other external interactions.

The duration of the coating warranty for aluminum products depends on the range and/or product subfamily.

Seaside (as the crow flies):

• The warranty is reduced to 10 years for products installed less than 5 kilometers from a coast.
• The warranty is reduced to 5 years for products installed less than 500 meters from a coast.
• The warranty is excluded for products installed less than 50 meters from a coast.

Information about Powder Coating

Aging of powder coating (softening, fouling, permeability, chalking, loss of gloss, uniform discoloration...) is a progressive and natural phenomenon, not a defect.

Delamination of the resins surrounding the pigments occurs through the combined action of UV, rain, and pollution. The pigments are directly exposed to external elements. In the long term, they are on the free surface and after wiping, they are found on the cloth. This is natural depigmentation.

To delay this phenomenon, it is necessary to clean your powder-coated product regularly and from installation (see our cleaning instructions and recommended products in our documentation).

Motorization and Home Automation Warranty

All motors sold by us are guaranteed for 24 months.

Motor installation must be carried out in accordance with our installation guides and the recommendations of the motor manufacturers.

The CE performance declaration of our motorized gates is only valid with motors sold by us. (in accordance with standard NF 13241-1+A1).

Hardware Accessories Warranty

Accessories and hardware fitted to our gates such as hinges, profile tips, handles, locks, fasteners, rollers, electric strikes, etc., and what could be called "wear parts"... benefit from a 2-year warranty against defects in operation, material or manufacturing, and coating.

Instructions to strictly follow to benefit from warranties

Storage instructions

• Store products upright against a flat surface.
• Do not leave the product in its original packaging, especially outdoors.
• Remove airtight packaging to avoid condensation; exposure to the sun and even more to the moon and in a humid environment can cause indelible marks (white stains)
• Never store on a damp surface or in an aggressive atmosphere. (cement dust, plaster, corrosive vapors..)
• Do not place the product on abrasive surfaces.

Installation instructions

Installation instructions must be strictly followed. Level and plumb must be respected.

We strongly recommend installation by a professional.

Maintenance instructions

Maintenance instructions for powder-coated parts

• Do not clean lacquered parts with high-pressure cleaners.

Maintenance instructions for motors

Specific maintenance instructions provided by the motor manufacturer in the product packaging must be followed.

Maintenance instructions for hardware (hinges, locks…)

• Check the proper functioning and secure fixing of the lock.
• Use a suitable lubricant to maintain the lock and hinges regularly (at least once a year) and before first use.
• Check and tighten bolts and hinge fasteners regularly (once a year), preferably by a professional.

Usage instructions

Gates, fences, and railings must be used under normal conditions.

The following are considered abnormal usage conditions:

• operating the gate during windy episodes
• forcing the gate or wicket to operate it
• slamming the gate or wicket to close it (or to open it if there are stops)
• climbing over the gate or wicket to pass over it.

Gates and wickets must be operated without force. If opening or closing the product is difficult, you must contact your installer.

Warranty exclusions

General exclusions

Excluded from the warranty are consequences of age, normal wear, misuse, lack of maintenance, poor installation (non-compliance with installation instructions, including motorization), as well as defects resulting from force majeure (such as war, explosion, natural disasters…) or third-party intervention or any modification not expressly accepted by the company.

Discoloration of materials resulting from exposure, weather, or environment is not a defect and is therefore not covered by the warranty.

The appearance of a RAL shade may vary depending on the material on which the coating is applied. Any shade differences observed, for the same RAL, between company products and other pre-existing or subsequently installed elements do not engage the company's responsibility and are not covered by the warranty.

Specific exclusions

Exclusions for powder coating warranty

• Any form of lacquer layer degradation caused by:

• abnormal use, normal wear or aging
• use of profiles of different classes on the same site
• deformation of the support surface
• mechanical causes
• significant or violent thermal shocks
• friction of blunt objects
• damage that does not affect the overall aesthetic appearance
• faulty drainage of the whole
• aggressive environment (especially chlorinated environment and seaside)

• • Damage caused by cleaning or contact with products or materials to which the lacquer layer is not chemically resistant, or caused by defects or repairs
• • Damage caused by improper use of products, structures or materials, or use of products, materials or structures for unintended purposes.
• • Damage caused by continuous or abnormal immersion in aqueous solutions.
• • Damage caused directly or indirectly by a crack or damage to the lacquer layer of structured profiles or parts that have undergone deformations such as bending or curving after lacquer application
• • Damage caused by galvanic couples from the application of incompatible alloy components (copper, lead, zinc, etc.)
• • Damage caused by lack of maintenance or chronic poor maintenance

Exclusions for motor warranty

The warranty does not cover:

• motors opened, disassembled, broken, pierced or cut
• consumables such as batteries,
• disorders resulting from installation error or negligence,
• disorders resulting from incompatible associated elements,
• disorders caused by lightning.
• disorders caused by lack of sealing of the motor's electrical parts (humidity, insect intrusion…)

Exclusions for hardware warranty

The various coating processes (cataphoresis, galvanizing, painting, etc.) cannot offer a guarantee against corrosion. Steel items, even treated, are likely to oxidize and cannot give rise to any claim.

Exclusions for wood warranty

Natural wood degradation, such as aging, color change, crack formation, resin exudation, or deformation due to variations in humidity and temperature, is inevitable. These changes result from exposure to natural elements (sun, rain, wind, etc.) and cannot be considered manufacturing defects. Therefore, they are not covered by the warranty.

Also excluded from warranties:
Healthy knots of varying sizes that may slightly detach over time outdoors (mainly for Douglas fir)
